Following ancient caravan routes
The Great Silk Road was stretched from the Caspian Sea to the Black Sea coast. Once upon a time ancient caravans passed here, carrying delicate jewels, precious stones and spices. Today the Great Sild Road sites can be visited while travelling in the South Caucasus.

Day 1:
Arrival to Baku;
(touring distance ≈ 20km/driving time ≈ 0,5 hours)
Transfer to the hotel on supplementary basis, without guide*;
Overnight in Baku. -
Day 2:
Baku Old City & Absheron Peninsula tour;
(touring distance ≈ 50km/driving time ≈ 1,5 hours)
Explore old town of Baku, called Ichari Shahar which is also a fortress. In the afternoon proceed to Absheron peninsula.
The wide plain of Absheron with ravines and salt lakes, vineyards and tea plantations is particularly noted for its oil deposits.
• Baku City Tour. Shirvanshah’s Palace, Maidan Tower, Ateshgah, Carpet Museum;
• Free time for lunch;
• Drive to Absheron Peninsual. Visit the Yanar Dagh – the burning mountain Yanar Dag, Mardakan Castle, Ramana Castle;
Overnight in Baku. -
Day 3:
Baku-Gobustan-Shamakhi-Sheki;
(touring distance ≈ 400km/driving time ≈ 6 hours)
Visit Gobustan Rock Art Cultural landscape representing an outstanding collection of over 7000 rock engravings and drive to Sheki. En route visit historical and religious sites of Shemakhi.
• Drive to Gobustan. Visit Gobustan National Park. Drive to Shamakhi. Visiting Diribaba Mausoleum;
• Free time for lunch;
• Visit Juma-Mosque (Friday Mosque) of Shamakhi city;
• Visit Seven Domes – the complex of tombs built for Shirvan’s royal family in 18th c. Drive to Sheki;
Overnight in Sheki.

Day 4:
Sheki- Lagodekhi Border-Tbilisi;
(touring distance ≈ 295km/driving time ≈ 5 hours)
Enjoy Sheki sightseeing tour and drive to Georgian. After border crossing continue sightseeing in Georgia.
• Visit Sheki Khan’s Palace;
• Departure to Lagodegkhi Border (required walking distance approx. 500m);
• Free time for lunch;
• Nekresi Architectural Complex; short walking tour in Telavi; after visits departure to Tbilisi;
Overnight in Tbilisi. -
Day 5:
Half Day Tbilisi City Tour;
(touring distance ≈ 40km/driving time ≈ 1 hour)
Visit Tbilisi, a town which conquers you with increasing fascination and lodges in your heart forever.
• Tbilisi Sightseeing tour. Sights to visit: Old City, Metekhi Church, Narikala Fortress, Abanotubani, - Sulphur bath district, Sioni Cathedral, Anchiskhati Basilica, Rustaveli Avenue;
• Free time for lunch;
• Suggested places to visit on supplementary basis: National Museum of Georgia*, Open Air Ethnographic Museum*;
Overnight in Tbilisi. -
Day 6:
Round trip to Wine Region – Kakheti;
(touring distance ≈ 230km/driving time ≈ 4 hours)
Kakheti region is well-known for its hardworking, good-tempered people, and mostly for its wines. Ancient Georgian traditional Qvevri winemaking is listed in Intangible Cultural Heritage Monuments by UNESCO.
• Drive to Kakheti region;
• Visit: Bodbe Nunnery, Sighnaghi - City of Love;
• Free time for lunch;
• Wine tasting at local winery;
• Drive back to Tbilisi;
Overnight in Tbilisi. -
Day 7:
From Tbilisi to Khevi Province;
(touring distance ≈ 200km/driving time ≈ 3,5 hours)
In order to see the high peaks, roaring rivers and mountain lifestyle of Georgia’s northern borderlands travel to Stepantsminda via Mtskheta (UNESCO site) - former capital, historical and religious center of country.
• Drive to the former capital of Mtskheta. Sights to visit: Jvari Monastery (UNESCO), Svetitskhoveli Cathedral (UNESCO);
• Free time for lunch;
• Photo Stops along Georgian Military Highway;
• Hike up to Gergeti Trinity church – approx. 3hrs. hiking (or on supplementary basis 4WD vehicle*);
Overnight in Gudauri. -
Day 8:
Trip to the oldest urban settlement in Georgia;
(touring distance ≈ 315km/driving time ≈ 5 hours)
From Gudauri highlands drive to Imereti region and visit Kutaisi, the second biggest city of the country.
• Drive to Uplistsikhe cave town via Ananuri architectural complex. Explore Uplistsikhe rock-hewn town;
• Free time for lunch;
• Stalin’s Museum and the house, where Stalin, the leader of Soviet Union, was born;
• Drive to Akhaltsikhe via Borjomi. Visit Borjomi Park to taste Brojomi mineral water;
Overnight in Akhaltsikhe.

Day 9:
Akhaltsikhe – Vardzia – Tbilisi
(touring distance ≈ 290km/driving time ≈ 5 hours)
Explore Kutaisi, the ancient capital of the Kingdom of Colchis. In the afternoon drive to Batumi, one of the oldest cities inhabited from as
early as the third century BC.
• Rabati castle, after drive to Vardzia via Khertvisi Fortress, with short photo stop.
• Explore Vardzia Cave Complex;
• Free time for lunch.
• Panoramic view of Paravani Lake.
Overnight in Tbilisi. -
Day 10:
Departure from Tbilisi;
