Reveal the secrets of an ancient country

This program has been designed to develop new, essential knowledge about the most important and unique archaeological sites and cultural heritage of the country and reveal the secrets kept for millenniums by this ancient land. The highlights of the program are Dmanisi medieval site where archaeologist came across the oldest remains of primitive men in Eurasia; amazing architectural complex of Dzalisi dating back to the second millennium BC; archaeological sites of the legendary Colchis Kingdom and more.

3000 year old script, Grakliani

Day 1:
Arrival in Tbilisi; met and assisted at the airport.
Day 2:
Tbilisi; sightseeing tour with visit to State History Museum and its treasury.
Day 3:
Tbilisi-Dmanisi-Tbilisi; day trip to visit Dmanisi archaeological site, beautifully located at the confluence of two rivers.
Day 4:
Tbilisi – Mtskheta - Tbilisi; the day trip will be spent in heart of Kartli province; visit old settlements of Mtskheta as well as Armazistsikhe -Bagineti archaeological monument.
Day 5:
Tbilisi - Uplistsikhe - Kutaisi; drive to Kutaisi, en route short stop to visit Grakliani Hill - archaeological site where excavations are still in course and where the ancient unknown script was discovered; Also visit Uplistsikhe Cave Town.
Day 6:
Kutaisi - Vani - Kutaisi; today we will explore Vani - the capital of legendary Colchis, we will visit the ancient town and some of the finest examples of ancient artefacts kept in the Vani Archaeological Museum.
Day 7:
Kutaisi - Batumi; drive to the Black Sea shore; en route to Batumi visit Nokalakevi archaeological site, surrounded from the three sides by the river Tekhura and protected by the three lines of the high walls.
Day 8:
Batumi; today we will explore Batumi, one of the oldest cities in Georgia, inhabited from the 3rd c BC. Visit Gonio fortress and Batumi Archaeological Museum.
Day 9:
Batumi - Borjomi; drive to Borjomi; en route visit Pichvnari archaeological site.
Day 10:
Borjomi - Akhalkalaki - Tbilisi; explore Javakheti area and drive to Tbilisi.
Day 11:
Tbilisi - Dzalisi - Tbilisi; drive to visit Dzalisi archaeological site and its impressive mosaics; proceed to multilayered site of Tsikheagora which revealed a large architectural complex belonging to the Hellenistic period.
Day 12:
Departure; transfer to the airport.
