Mt. Kazbegi, one of the highest and the most picturesque peaks is an excellent ski-touring summit for experienced skiers. Spring is the best time to enjoy 2500 m of thrilling descent from the plateau to the valley. Mt. Kazbegi is associated with myth of Prometheus, according to the legend he was chained on the mountain in punishment for having stolen fire from the gods and having given it to mortals.

Bethlemi Hut (3675m)

  • Day 1:

    Arrival in Tbilisi; met and assisted at the airport.

  • Day 2:

    Tbilisi – Stepantsminda; in order to see the high peaks, roaring rivers and mountain lifestyle of Georgia’s northern borderlands we will travel to Stepantsminda vía Mtskheta (UNESCO site).

  • Day 3:

    Stepantsminda - Bethlemi Hut; ski-tour to Bethlemi hut (3675 m), former Meteorological station.

  • Day 4:

    The Bethlemi Hut - Mt. Ortsveri; ski-tour to the north saddle of Mt. Ortsveri (4300 m). Ascent to the summit via northern ridge (II UIAA.). Descent to meteorological station.

  • Day 5:

    The Bethlemi Hut - Mt. Kazbegi; Ski tour to Mt. Kazbegi north slope (4600 - 4800 m), Ascent to the summit via ice-snow slope (5054 m, II UIAA). Descent to meteorological station.

  • Day 6:

    The Bethlemi Hut – Stepantsminda; Descent to Stepantsminda.

  • Day 7:

    Stepantsminda – Tbilisi; enjoy leisure evening in Tbilisi. Rest and relax in Tbilisi sulfur bath houses.

  • Day 8:

    Departure; transfer to Tbilisi international airport.
